Do I need different permits if I only operate temporarily?

No. Mobile units with wheels require the same base Class IV license whether operating 1 day per year or 365 days. Oregon does not have a separate temporary mobile unit category.

I only need the trailer for one 3-day event. Do I still need the full Class IV license?

Yes. Any mobile food unit operating in Oregon requires a full mobile unit license with plan review, inspection, and health department approval - regardless of how many days you'll operate. Plan for 6-8 weeks minimum lead time.

Can I use my license for multiple events?

Yes! Your Class IV license is annual and covers unlimited events within Oregon. You do NOT need to re-apply for each event. You may need event-specific TRF permits if conducting operations outside the unit, and must notify health departments when operating in different counties.

What's the difference between my Class IV license and a TRF?

Your Class IV license is for the MOBILE UNIT itself (annual). A TRF (Temporary Restaurant Facility) is for a specific EVENT when you place equipment or conduct operations OUTSIDE your licensed mobile unit. Most events inside the unit do not need TRF.

How much does it cost?

License fees vary by county, typically: Class IV plan review: $200-500, Annual license: $300-800, TRF per event: $50-200. Contact your county health department for exact fees.
